Norberto Aleman-Padilla is a Mexican-born illustrator living in Chicago IL and studying for a bachelor's degree at Columbia college. His pedigree includes mural commissions, library exhibitions, and cartoons published in Evanston-Township High School’s Evanstonian. With backgrounds in traditional, digital, and 3D art, Norberto plans to use his skill set to find work both in-industry and freelance.
While Norberto has many areas of practice to pull from, he prefers the clean linework and color of traditional art, mainly using a toolbox consisting of pencils, markers, and charcoal. However, Norberto has a wide portfolio of digital work, and is using what he knows of traditional art to further enhance his digital art. He is a self-proclaimed “eternal student”, always happy and eager to glean techniques and practices from other artists and illustrators before applying them to his own work. The end result is expressive characters never lacking in detail. Norberto leans towards this character work, and tries to implement it when and where he can. Norberto hopes to take these practices and skills into the workforce as a publication illustrator. With his ease of interpretation, powerful character art, and clear linework, there is room for him to illustrate stories for older audiences.
